Development
The classes of Veildelve
The ten classes of Veildelve are consistently defined in the game and form the foundation for abilities, party roles, and character development.
After the playable entities of Veildelve - A World Shaped by Aether were firmly established, the complete framework of classes is now in place as well.
The ten classes are used consistently in the game. This gives the user interface, game data, abilities, and future content a shared and unambiguous foundation.
Warden
The Warden focuses on protection, control, and steadfastness. They keep enemies away from more vulnerable party members and stabilise the formation.
Warrior
The Warrior is a versatile melee fighter. Depending on equipment and development, they can be used offensively, defensively, or as a flexible front-line figure.
Paladin
The Paladin combines heavy armour and melee combat with supportive or holy abilities. They protect the party and can also specialise in confronting specific types of enemies.
Rogue
The Rogue relies on mobility, precision, and exploiting favourable situations. In addition to high single-target damage, they are intended to handle important tasks outside combat as well.
Ranger
The Ranger masters combat from range and safe navigation through dangerous areas. They combine ranged combat, observation, and knowledge of the wilderness.
Mage
The Mage draws on the powers of the Aether and other magical disciplines. Their abilities range from direct damage to control, protection, and reshaping the battlefield.
Priest
The Priest supports the party through healing, protection, and spiritual powers. Their role can range from dedicated support to offensive power.
Druid
The Druid has a close connection to nature, change, and living forces. They can support party members, influence enemies, and deploy natural magic against threats.
Runesmith
The Runesmith combines craftsmanship, runes, and constructs that blend magic with technology. They enhance equipment, create protective effects, and manipulate the battlefield through prepared signs and artefacts.
Summoner
The Summoner calls creatures, beings, or bound powers to their side. Their strength lies less in direct confrontation than in control, support, and additional presence on the battlefield.
Clear roles without rigid boundaries
Each class is intended to have a recognisable core role. At the same time, character development, talents, and equipment should enable different playstyles.
The classes will form the foundation for:
- individual abilities
- talent trees and specialisations
- equipment requirements
- tactical party roles
- synergies between the six party members
- different solutions within and outside combat
A Warrior should not necessarily be played like every other Warrior. Likewise, Mages, Priests, or Runesmiths should be able to take on clearly different roles through their development.
Unified foundation in the game
The binding definition of class names is also technically important. Each class receives a unique identifier that is used consistently throughout the game.
This allows abilities, images, equipment, and further content to be assigned reliably. Incorrect or unknown entries should be detected during content validation before they enter the actual game.
With eleven entities and ten classes, the fundamental character framework of Veildelve is now clearly defined. The next task is to gradually fill this foundation with abilities, visual content, and playable combinations.
