The playable entities of Veildelve
The eleven playable entities of Veildelve are firmly established in the game and form the foundation for character creation, world design, and later reactions.
The world of Veildelve - A World Shaped by Aether is shaped by very different entities. Their cultures, ways of life, and relationships with the Aether are intended not only to define the backdrop of the game world, but also to influence character creation, party composition, and later events.
The eleven intended playable entities have now been firmly established in the game. This provides a unified foundation for their further development and gradual integration.
Human
Humans are adaptable, versatile, and present in numerous realms, settlements, and communities. Their diverse cultures are intended to enable a wide range of character concepts.
Dwarf
Dwarves represent resilience, craftsmanship, and the preservation of ancient knowledge. Fortresses, forges, runes, and relics play a central role in their culture.
Elf
Elves share a close bond with ancient forests, inherited traditions, and the deeper currents of the world. They often view the changes brought by the Aether from a different perspective than shorter-lived entities.
Orc
Orcs are not mere enemies or wild outsiders. They have their own communities, values, and traditions. Strength, cohesion, and survival in a dangerous world shape many of their cultures.
Fallen Seraphim
Fallen Seraphim carry within them the remnants of a heavenly origin. Their fall has changed them and often placed them between former destiny, guilt, and a new existence.
Mutant
Mutants have been physically altered by the Aether, experiments, or other profound influences. Their appearance and abilities can vary greatly, as can their standing within society.
Goblin
Goblins are characterised by inventiveness, adaptability, and technical improvisation. Many of them combine pragmatic thinking with a strong interest in machines, tools, and unusual solutions.
Aetherborn
Aetherborn are directly connected to the alien energy that shapes Veildelve. Their origin, perception, and physical nature distinguish them clearly from the older entities of the world.
Dragonblood
Dragonblood carry traits and powers of ancient dragon lines within them. Their relationship to fire, power, and lineage is an important part of their identity.
Relicborn
Relicborn unite living existence with ancient technology and forgotten constructs. They stand at the boundary between being, machine, and the legacy of past eras.
Fea
The Fea originate from magical and often difficult-to-understand regions of the world. Their culture does not always follow the rules and expectations of other entities and is closely tied to nature, change, and ancient magic.
More than a visual choice
The entities are intended to differ not only in appearance. In the long term, they are intended to influence, among other things:
- available character representations
- cultural backgrounds
- reactions from factions and inhabitants
- possible dialogue and event options
- special strengths and traits
- the composition of the six-member party
Establishing them firmly in the game ensures that all further content builds on unified identifiers and binding names.
An important part of the character foundation is now defined. The next development post will cover the ten classes through which each party member receives their role, abilities, and progression options.
