Character creation: Three entities, three classes, three distinct identities

Current development status

Three in-game captures from character creation show how distinct the Human, Elf, and Orc entities already look when combined with the Ranger, Paladin, and Runesmith classes.

Character creation in Veildelve - A World Shaped by Aether is taking shape. My goal is for the choice of entity and class to be reflected not only in stats and abilities, but also immediately in a character’s visual identity.

Using three current in-game captures, I show how differently the possible character combinations already feel. The models shown and the user interface are still in development. Materials, lighting, details, and presentation may still change before the final version.

When developing character models, I treat entity and class as interconnected choices. Together, they should shape how a character feels.

A Ranger, for example, needs different body language, material choices, and equipment than a Paladin. At the same time, the same class should not look entirely identical on a Human, an Elf, or an Orc. Build, proportions, cultural details, and different interpretations of equipment should ensure that each combination fits believably into the world of Veildelve.

The captures shown come directly from the current development state. They are used, among other things, to review how the models work within the actual character creation screen. Not all visible elements are final – including materials, lighting, equipment details, backgrounds, and parts of the user interface.

Next, I will integrate and compare more entity-and-class combinations. Each combination should receive a coherent visual identity and fit credibly into the world of Veildelve - A World Shaped by Aether.
